GIVING for the WORK of GOD

We all know how inflation affects our own outgoings and it is no different for the Church.  Each year we have to find that little bit more to achieve all that the Church wishes to do.

All your giving is very much appreciated but it may be that: -

 ·            You pay tax and currently do not ‘gift aid’ it.  (This will earn us 28 pence extra for every £1 you give by way of tax reclaimed).

 ·           You give by way of irregular amounts, either with or without gift aid when you attend worship (You may be interested in the envelope system or standing order to make regular gifts)

 ·           You may already give regularly under our envelope system or through your bank by standing order, but would wish to review the amount or change from non-gift aid to gift aid or gift aid by envelope to standing order.

In addition, in the new tax year beginning 6th April 2008, the basic rate of income tax is due to reduce from 22% to 20%.  This will mean that instead of the Church being able to recover 28 pence for every £ given only 25 pence will be recoverable.

I therefore urge everybody who pays tax and gift aids it, to review their giving and make the necessary amendments to their standing order or amounts put into the envelopes.   I would welcome enquiries from anyone who wishes to set up new standing orders or wishes to join the envelope scheme.

In the forthcoming Newsletter in February I will repeat this message.
